We spend the first day in the desert and the fertile valley of the Majes river, then roller coaster up from 2500 m to 5000 m for 5 days, crossing its colonial villages and welcoming locals. The ecological diversity is surprising, from rice crops and large irrigations in the desert, to the producers of quinoa, Kiwicha and famous cheeses, to the alpaca breeders.
